'Pote' is the common name for the tiny colourful glass beads that are very popular in Nepali society and culture. The colourful pote necklaces are a symbol of luck for the married women in Nepal especially in Hindu communities. The pote beads used in AURA QUE jewellery designs are bought locally in Kathmandu. The tube jewellery is made by crocheting the beads onto strong cotton using hundreds of tiny knots; this gives the jewellery stretch and flexibility, and also makes it very robust.

About Aura Que

Handmade by artisans in rural Nepal. The production is coordinated by a small Nepali workshop affiliated with the Nepal Leprosy Trust, which employs marginalised people, giving them opportunities through work; the relationship with AURA QUE dates back to 2006. AURA QUE products are individually handcrafted and the unique story behind each AURA QUE product enhances its charm.
