Ola Gorie

In 1960, Ola Gorie, great-granddaughter of James Kirkness, founder of our family business, returned from art school in Aberdeen to found Orkney’s first jewellery studio and workshop.  Over sixty years she has become established as one of the most important British jewellery designers of modern times, influencing several generations of designers across Orkney and the whole country.  In 1999 she was awarded an MBE for services to the jewellery industry.  Her daughter Ingrid Tait now heads up the family firm, ensuring her mother’s iconic designs are made to the same high quality standards as ever.
