  Tencel - or lyocell - is made from wood fibres (typically eucalyptus and birch brushwood) from sustainable forestry, which is either FSC certified or has a similar certification. The conversion of wood fibres into textile fibres, which are used for Tencel/Lyocell, takes place in a closed loop. This means that chemicals and water are recycled, and that polluted wastewater is not released into nature.
  
  Tencel can be recycled and is biodegradable - unlike plastics, such as polyester (plastic), which is primarily made from oil and natural gas, and which is not naturally degradable, and it also emits micro-plastics when washed.
