SGW Lab is a London-based ceramics studio founded in 2018 by Japanese artist Yuta Segawa. His work is rooted in a deep respect for craftsmanship, drawing on the ideals of William Morris and the Arts & Crafts movement. At SGW Lab, Segawa and his small team explore how beauty can emerge from the handmade: working with clay, glaze, and the wheel in ways that embrace imperfection. Every piece carries the artist’s sensitivity to material and form and is made both to be useful and to be beautiful.
As William Morris once said, “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful”.

The Geres jacket is made of 100% recycled Polyamide and 100% recycled Polyester filling. By using recycled polyamide as opposed to conventional polyamide, we drastically cut down on greenhouse gas emissions, reduce the use of non-renewable fossil resources, as well as reincorporate waste into the value chain, fostering a circular economy in the textile industry.

The Longship is a fashion and lifestyle store in the Orkney Islands in the north of Scotland. We are a family business and pride ourselves in supporting other independent designers and craftspeople – from Orkney and beyond.
We believe each piece in our store has its own unique story: it starts with the people who make it, and the place it comes from. It continues when we find it, select it, and bring it to Orkney. And the end of the story…is in your hands, and in your home.
